Applications have now opened for the second of Julie's Bicycle's Creative Climate Leadership (CCL) courses for artists and cultural professionals. This course will be held near Koper, Slovenia from 8-14 October 2017.
In March 2017, CCL enabled 25 leading creative and cultural professionals from across the world to explore the cultural dimensions of climate change and accelerate engagement with climate change in their work.
For the first course, Julie's Bicycle received exceptional demand from 109 highly-qualified applicants working across cultural policy, theatre, festivals, forestry, fashion, dance, museums and visual arts. This year, they invite applicants from organisations, individuals and artists working to embed climate change in their creative work – whether in a traditional creative practice, music venue, touring circus, design agency, fashion house, or something broader. The course is built to reflect the specific needs and challenges of participants. Participants will have ample opportunity to talk with experienced professionals about how to progress their own work.
Julie's Bicycle will be making a limited number of grants available for individuals and small business owners who can demonstrate that they could not otherwise attend the course at this cost. The course costs 750€ to paying participants. The deadline for applications is Monday July 31st.
The course will:
Explore the role of culture and creativity in responding to climate change and environmental challenges;
Bring together a range of expert guest speakers to share case studies, research, approaches and practical solutions drawing on personal experience;
Enable each participant to develop their leadership and ideas and to tackle any challenges or roadblocks to embedding environmental sustainability in their work;
Prepare participants to apply their learning and new skills when they return home, and support ongoing learning and exchange through an alumni network.
